We experienced some problems with the site search functionality yesterday as a result of changes we are currently making to improve performance. The search functionality was responding but was only returning items that had been listed after a certain time yesterday. The monitoring didn’t flag this as a problem as search wasn’t returning an error and thus we only detected the problem when the issue was reported to our support team late last night. The fix involved regenerating the search indexes for the site which could only be carried out after midnight as it slows down site performance when this work is carried out. We’ve updated the monitoring to look for a specific product now and to error if it isn’t found, this should mitigate this issue not being detected in the future. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused to our customers.
